WhiskyPin is a community platform for sharing whisky experiences. We respect your privacy and keep things transparent.

Privacy Policy

1. Data We Collect

  • Account: your email address (for login) and a system-generated user ID.
  • Profile: a random nickname.
  • Posts: photos you upload, required whisky name, optional description, EXIF location data and photo timestamp.
  • Technical: timestamps, usage events, error logs.

2. How We Use It

  • To provide account login and post publishing.
  • To display your posts on the map and enable discovery.
  • To maintain reliability and trustworthiness of whisky information.
  • To ensure safety and prevent abuse.
  • We never sell or share your personal data.
  • We may analyze, aggregate, and share anonymized usage patterns (e.g. popular whiskies, regions) with partners. These insights never identify individual users.

3. Who Can See Your Data

  • Other users: only your nickname and posts.
  • Admins: may access your account info only for support or legal compliance.

4. Storage & Retention

  • Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud, region: asia-northeast1, Tokyo).
  • Authentication data (email, UID) is stored securely on Google servers.
  • Data is kept until you delete your account.
  • Inactive accounts may be removed after a period of inactivity.
  • Upon account deletion:
    • Your email and authentication details are erased.
    • Your posts remain as anonymized content, no longer linked to you.

5. Your Rights

  • You may access, correct, and delete your data at any time in Settings → Privacy.
  • We do not provide automated data export.

When you use WhiskyPin, you consent that:

  • You are of legal drinking age in your jurisdiction and legally permitted to view alcohol-related content.
  • We store your nickname, posts, whisky name, optional description, photos, EXIF location and timestamp.
  • We store your account email and UID for authentication (not shown to others).
  • Your data is used only to operate WhiskyPin, to display posts on the map, and to ensure reliability of whisky information.
  • We may analyze and share only anonymized, aggregated insights (never personal identifiers).
  • You can access, correct, or delete your data anytime.
  • Deleting your account removes your email and UID; your posts remain as anonymized content not linked to you.
  • We never sell personal data.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WhiskyPin, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations.

2. User Content and Licensing

  • By uploading content to WhiskyPin, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, distribute, and display such content in connection with the WhiskyPin service.
  • You retain ownership of your content but grant WhiskyPin the rights necessary to operate the service.
  • All content uploaded becomes part of the WhiskyPin database and may be used to improve the service.
  • You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights to grant this license for any content you upload.

3. Intellectual Property and Prohibited Uses

  • The WhiskyPin database, including all aggregated user content, is protected by copyright and database rights.
  • You may not scrape, copy, reproduce, distribute, transmit, broadcast, display, sell, license, or otherwise exploit any content from WhiskyPin for any other purposes without our prior written consent.
  • Systematic retrieval of data or content from WhiskyPin to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation, database, or directory without written permission is prohibited.
  • Any unauthorized use terminates the permission or license granted by WhiskyPin.

4. User Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for all content you post and activity that occurs under your account.
  • You agree not to upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
  • You agree not to misrepresent the source, origin, or quality of whisky products.
  • You must not interfere with or disrupt the service or servers.

5. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for any breach of these Terms of Service.

6. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

WhiskyPin is provided "as is" without any warranties. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which WhiskyPin operates.
